I've been recalled for my routine eye exam but I am wondering if I should schedule for my exam? Who should be scheduling right now and who are you seeing?

For now, we are only seeing patients who the State does not consider to fall into the vulnerable population for routine care until phase two of the opening. The State considers people over the age of 65 and or have pre-existing conditions like heart disease or diabetes to be among the vulnerable population. If you have family members, roommates and are in close proximity of the immune compromised please consider waiting to schedule until we know more about how to move forward. We have options for those that need contact lens prescriptions renewed and can work with you if you have an expired script for glasses. It’s always best to reach out to us so that we can assess each situation as there are lots of things to factor in with each individual patient.

How should I prepare for my exam? What do I need to know before coming in?

Please review these new policy and procedure changes:

  1. We are limiting the number of patients in the office and spacing out our exams to ensure that we have the proper amount of time to sanitize and prepare for each patient in between exams. As we continue to practice social distancing, please do not bring anyone else into the practice so that we can minimize further contact. Upon arriving, you will need to knock in order to be allowed into the office.
  2. Prior to entry into the office, all patients will be required to have their temperature checked. Any abnormal temperature will result in rescheduling of your appointment. Additionally, all of our staff members will have their temperatures checked at the start of the day.
  3. To protect our staff, please wear a mask into the office. If you do not have a mask please let us know at scheduling. To protect you, all of our staff members will be wearing masks as well.
  4. Check your email! In order to have a non contact check in, our staff will email you an appointment packet within a couple days of scheduling your exam. In this packet you will find a general intake questionnaire and we may request updated items such as photos of new insurance cards and signatures on consents. Help us eliminate the use of pens and avoid contact by filling all necessary packet items before coming in.
Someone in my household or myself is experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 and or has experienced symtoms in the past 14 days. Do you think its okay for me to come in for an exam?

If you or anyone you live with have a cough for any reason, have had a fever, or have any respiratory symptoms in the past two weeks, please let us know. Even if you do not feel these symptoms are related to Covid-19, we will reschedule any non-urgent appointment to protect our community. If you have any of these symptoms please stay home, hydrate, rest and call your PCP or go to the emergency room if you have any trouble breathing. 

I am having an eye emergency! Can I still be seen by one of your doctors?

Yes, we are currently open for emergency visits by appointment only at Alberta Eye Care. Please call us at 503-384-2489 to schedule. When you visit your optometrist for issues affecting your eyes, you avoid further stressing our urgent care and primary care offices.

I’m having trouble with the prescription in my glasses. How can I resolve this issue?

In order to keep our staff and office a controlled environment we are not taking walk-in adjustments. Please email the office to set up a time to come in so that we can properly practice social distancing measures.

I ordered glasses or contacts. Can I come in to pick them up?
We are now allowing patients to pick up contact and glasses orders as long as they call or text when they arrive. No appointment is needed. We are no longer providing free shipping and home deliveries at this time. If you would like to pay for shipping and have items shipped, please let us know.
 
For longer glasses dispenses that require adjusting and or prescription troubleshooting, an appointment will be necessary in order for us to have the right staff available in order to perform this task.
I’ve run out of contacts and my prescription is almost expired. What should I do?
